July 30, 2014, Los Angeles, CA–Dietary supplement manufacturer Imagenetix, Inc. settled on confidential terms a patent infringement action that it had filed against its competitor Nikken, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Plaintiff Imagenetix had originally filed the case in 2011, alleging that Nikken infringed an Imagenetix patent related to the use of the compound cetyl myristoleate to alleviate arthritis symptoms. The case was stayed pending reexamination of the patent at issue by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. After the PTO confirmed the validity of the patent at issue, the court lifted the stay and the parties engaged in discovery. The parties ultimately reached an amicable settlement.

Kotchen & Low LLP represented Imagenetix, Inc. in the matter.
